About Us

We are a family business located on the north side of Kilkenny on the Bleach Road, occupying the old woolen mills built in the 1800s. At the time one of the largest employers in the area, the site covers a massive 90,000 square feet, and has more than a mile of river frontage onto the Nore.

Proprietor Robin Maharaj (left) and his three sons (Paul, Harry and Conor) provide a happy hunting ground for a range of people including builders, contractors, interior designers and private individuals who are all looking to add that authentic touch to their project.

Proprietor Robin Maharaj (left) and  his three sons (Paul, Harry and Conor) provide a happy hunting ground for a range of people including builders, contractors, interior designers and private individuals who are all looking to add that authentic touch to their project.

Robin set the company up in 1998 and is now celebrating 25 years in business. He lives and breathes the business with a continual focus on finding new and interesting items to stock the warehouse with.

You never know what you will find in our yard and that is a key reason why we have a huge number of return customers.

Whatever your requirements, Robin is confident he can supply the right piece for the project. Most items in stock have been collected from the Republic of Ireland, some are from England with the odd item from Europe.

In addition to the salvaged pieces, there’s always a wide selection of interesting antiques on display.

MEET THE TEAM

Robin

  • Robin founded the business over 25 years ago. After living in London and renovating some properties there he fell in love with architectural salvage. He couldn’t resist moving back to Kilkenny to set up his very own yard to help others while they embark on their own projects. When it comes to knowledge and experience there is nobody in Ireland who can match Robin.

Paul

Paul spent 15 years working in the travel industry based in Ireland, Australia and the UK. Travel has always been a big part of his life and he has been lucky enough to see some of the worlds top sites and buildings. Name the country and he has most likely been there but if he hasn’t his reply will always be “I haven’t been there YET“. Paul has a strong interest in art and architecture so couldn’t wait to become part of the Kilkenny Salvage team. Whenever, we get an interesting item in Paul will be the one who does the investigating and research to find out its history.

Harry

  • Harry spent 9 years working in the financial services sector. He went from selling stocks to rocks and equities to antiquities. Harrys architectural salvage love was clear from a young age. His focus has been on showing the next generation of home owners that everything in your house doesn’t have to be from Ikea and you can get some amazing bargains along with great quality in a salvage yard. He spends a large part of his time running our social media presence which is a great way to see what new items just arrived. Check us out on Instagram and Facebook.

Conor

  • Conor worked in the Insurance industry for a number of years before making the move to join the family business. He spends a large part of his time meeting with architects, builders and property owners discussing how Kilkenny Salvage can help them on any projects they may have.

HOW WE WORK

At the heart of Ireland’s architectural salvage trade, our family-run business operates from a historic 90,000 sq. ft. site on the Bleach Road, Kilkenny — once home to the old woollen mills and set along a mile of scenic riverfront on the River Nore.

We specialise in sourcing, restoring, and supplying quality reclaimed materials and antiques — from timber beams and cast iron baths to pub signs and stonework.

Whether you’re visiting in person or ordering from afar, our nationwide delivery service ensures that unique, one-of-a-kind pieces can reach homes, businesses, and building projects across the country.

Our team is passionate about heritage materials, and every item we stock is carefully selected for its character, quality, and potential to be reused or reimagined.
